  1. Jeremy,
Hey, I'm not sure if you remember me, but my name is Erica and I was in Robert French's Auburn PR class about 2 years ago. Well, I'm in graduate school now and I am actually slated to teach a PR class of my own in the fall. I'm am teaching Foundations of Public Relations and am looking for practical supplemental material for my class. Of course, your blog is going to be a reading requirement for my students. I am, however, in a quandry over other types of supplemental material, such as magazines. I was thinking about getting a subscription to O'Dwyer's, but it's rather pricey, so I wanted to make sure that there wasn't a better use of money (PR Week?). Do you have any suggestions? I know it's been a while since I've been a regular is the blogosphere, but you can count on many more frequent visits from me and my students. I hope you are well and thank you in advance for any insight you may have to offer.

  2. Hi Erica,

If you're thinking about PR Week, I believe that you can get a discount because you are a student.

I was going to get a subscription for myself last year and it was suggested that I call up and let the subscription department know I am a student. As I recall, the discount wasn't too bad, depending on how long of a subscription I was looking to buy.

I don't know if that's still the case, but if you're paying for these materials out-of-pocket (or even if the funds are from the department), you'll save a little money that can be used for additional materials.

    Good luck! :)

  3. Hello Erica,

Yes, I remember you. Intellectual Snob, redhead, went to grad school.

I forwarded your comment to O'Dwyer's to see if there is something that they can do, and I believe that there is an education price for PR Week. There's also Bulldog Reporter's Daily Dog, and let me see if I can help you out there with the publisher.

The Holmes Report is also a good Website, and he now blogs, and there is also PR News (there are links on my blog).

    Hope that helps...

  4. Wow,thanks Jeremy and Jenn, I really appreciate the help. Jeremy, I will definitely keep you posted with the progress of my class and I look forward to being an active reader of your blog once again (outside reading is a luxury in grad school).
